Adiacenze: Amerigo Mariotti (b. 1978) and Giorgia Tronconi (b. 1996) are curators and directors of Adiacenze, an art center based in Bologna committed to the exploration and production of contemporary art. Amerigo Mariotti, with a background in Architecture, founded Adiacenze in 2010, and Giorgia Tronconi joined the team in 2020. Holding a BA in Graphic Design & Art Direction from NABA in Milan and an MA in Visual Arts from the University of Bologna, Giorgia Tronconi brings diverse expertise to their collaborative approach.

The duo’s curatorial philosophy is research-based and experimentation-driven. It centers on multidisciplinary practices, emphasizing artists who challenge the contemporary landscape, probing its intricacies and potentials. Their work involves organizing exhibitions and public programs within the Adiacenze space, implementing residency programs at both regional and international levels. Additionally, they foster collaborations with galleries, institutions, and museums across Italy and beyond, including notable partnerships with the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid and Oslo, MAMbo (Museum of Modern Art) in Bologna, Galleria Nazionale in Rome, CAOS Museum in Terni, University and Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna and Milan, KOMA Gallery in Belgium, and Hordaland Kunstsenter in Bergen.

They operate across diverse media, prioritizing a collaborative approach with artists and cultivating a network of skills and knowledge to support and stimulate their research by encouraging cross-disciplinary interactions. Their dynamic curatorial practice not only engages with the current challenges of contemporaneity but also seeks to reimagine it from fresh perspectives, envisioning potential future scenarios.
