A workshop on writing applications for the various Norwegian funding bodies. This workshop is primarily aimed at international artists who are based in Norway and are writing their applications in English. Covering the upcoming working grant applications, as well as specific project funding, this workshop is for emerging or newly graduated artists who need help situating themselves in the Norwegian funding milieu, or for those who feel that they need assistance with their application writing and structuring. We will cover:
- An overview of the different types of funding available in Norway
- Where to apply to for what
- The language of fundraising applications (tone, style, detail, etc)
- How to structure your writing
- Building a feasible budget
- Portfolio and documentation tips
- Artist CV
There will also be time for questions and reflections from the group. The workshop will be held in English.

Samuel Brzeski (UK/NO) is an artist, writer and publisher working with language as raw material—moulding, stretching and transforming words on screens, on the page and within speech sound. He studied English Literature at University of Sheffield (UK) and Fine Art at Bergen Art Academy (NO), and was a participant at the Jan van Eyck Academie (Maastricht), Maumaus Independent Study Program (Lisbon) and Mountain School of Arts (Los Angeles).
Exhibitions and performances include Kunsthall 3,14, Lydgalleriet, KRAFT (Bergen), Nasjonalmuseet, Bærum Kunsthall, Pachinko (Oslo), bb15 (Linz), Meta.Morf Biennale (Trondheim), Black Box Theatre (Oslo), Chao Art Centre (Beijing) and Taipei Performing Arts Centre. As an extension of his practice, Samuel runs Vibrational Semantics Press, publishing texts, scores, and sound works from creative practitioners who work with voice and language.
